The Procedure
The procedure that leads to the final student delegation representing NTUT in NMUN 2012 goes as the following:
- The Application (deadline: October 27, 2011; see below for details)
- The Reserve Delegation Selection (November 8, 2011; see below for details)
- The Reserve Delegation Training (November 15 - December 27, 2011)
- The Final Delegation (to be announced on December 30, 2011)
- The Final Delegation Training (dates TBA)
- NMUN 2012 (April 3-7, 2012; will leave at April 2 and come back at April 8)
The Application
All NTUT students who have fluent English communicative skills and take interest in global affairs are invited to apply for the student delegation candidacy (i.e. students need to go through a delegation selection before they are made the final delegation representing NTUT). To apply for the candidacy, please complete the application form and, together with other necessary documents (see below), submit to Ms. Amy Shen of NTUT Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence by Thursday, October 27, 2011.

Note: Items #4 and #5 are not mandatory. If you have them, you may get extra points.
- the application form
- a personal statement (less than 300 words) - included in the application form
a position paper - possible topics are listed in the application form; you can also watch this video on how to write a position paper
- (not mandatory) transcripts of English proficiency exams you have obtained, including but not limited to GEPT, TOEIC, and TOEFL

The Reserve Delegation Selection
The Reserve Delegation Selection (i.e. the initial selection) is scheduled to take place at 10:00 - 13:00 on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. There are two phases to the selection:
- the application review
- the interview (i.e. a 3-to-4-minute presentation on the position paper + 1-minute Q&A with the Selection Committee)
Students who pass the Reserve Delegation Selection becomes a Reserve Delegate. A Reserve Delegate is expected to participate in the The Reserve Delegation Training to take place from November 15 to December 24, 2011. The total number of students to be selected into the Reserve Delegation ranges from 10 to 16.
The Final Delegation
Only 12 out of the 16 Reserve Delegates will be selected into the final delegation. To make the final delegation selection as fair as possible, the selection is based on a point system, with the criteria listed below. Students can consult with Ms. Amy Shen and Dr. Yang about points accumulation to monitor their performance.

Rights and Responsibilities of a Student Delegate
- The percentage of NTUT's subsidies on registration fee, travel cost (airfare and other transportation), travel insurance, accommodation cost, and meal cost are to be announced.
- Once passed the Reserve Delegation Selection, a Reserve Delegate is required to complete the Reserve Delegation Training; once passed the Final Delegation Selection, a Delegate is required to complete the Final Delegation Training.
- A student delegate is required to compile a portfolio of his/her NMUN 2012 experience and materials after participating in NMUN 2012.
- A student delegate is given official leave during the course of NMUN 2012. The student delegate is responsible of informing his/her course instructors about the official leave before leaving for NMUN 2012.
