What counts as an NTUT English-related activity?
Participating in at least one of the Fall 2011 NTUT English-related activities is not mandatory to apply for the student delegation candidacy. If you have participated in any of the activities, you may get extra points. The activities are limited to those subsidized by the Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence and therefore include only the followings:
- English Corner
- English Speech Contest
- TED Seminars
- English Creative Writing Contest
- BBC 6 Minute English
- Intexplore (NTUT's international volunteer team)
- English Proficiency Test
- The Developing Global Perspectives series in the the Last Mile curriculum
If you do not think you will benefit from participating in any of these activities, we encourage that you sign up to be the TA in these activities to help your fellow students. Serving as a TA also counts as participating in the activities.

Exactly what am I supposed to do with the position paper?
- Pick one topic, from either the GA2nd or the GA3rd (topics are listed in the application form file)
- Do your research on the topic and find what the stance of Czech Republic on the topic may be
- Pretend you're a diplomat from the Czech Republic and write the position paper based on the findings you have from your research
- Use the sample position paper given in the application form file as a format reference
Here is also a video explaining how you write a position paper.
The position paper looks really difficult...
Yes, it is supposed to be difficult. Participating in NMUN requires that you absorb a huge amount of information, organize the information, and present them in a way that is in favor of your country's stance. In an actual NMUN conference, you will also need to fight for your stance through negotiation should there be such a need. That is why you need to do this position paper as a preparation and really just have a taste of what is going to come later.
